Terms & license
1. Who you’re dealing with
Runway is made by Simon Weniger, HappyFace Studio (“we”, see the imprint). Purchases are made through Stripe’s Managed Payments: Stripe is the merchant of record, so your purchase contract, payment, invoice and taxes are handled by Stripe under the terms shown at checkout. These terms cover the license to use Runway, which you receive from us.
2. Your license
- Buying Runway 1 gives you a perpetual, non-exclusive license to install and use Runway 1.x on the Macs you use, for personal and commercial work.
- One purchase is for one person. A company buying for its team needs one purchase per developer who uses Runway.
- Every Runway 1.x update is included. A future Runway 2 would be a separate, optional purchase, and your Runway 1 keeps working.
- There’s no subscription, no account and no license key. The license is personal and can’t be transferred.
3. What you may not do
Don’t resell, rent out, sublicense or redistribute Runway or your download link, and don’t remove its copyright notices. Reverse engineering is allowed only where the law expressly permits it.
4. Your projects and your agents
Runway runs Apple’s developer tools on your projects. It changes project files (for example build settings, entitlements, Info.plist keys or String Catalogs) when you or an AI agent connected to Runway asks it to, and it runs the apps you build. Review those changes and keep backups, for example with git. AI agents you connect act on your instructions and under their providers’ terms.
5. Refunds and your right of withdrawal
If Runway isn’t for you, write to support@happyface.studio within 30 days of buying and you get a full refund. No reason needed. Refunds are paid by Stripe to the payment method you used. After a refund, please delete Runway.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you also have a statutory right of withdrawal from the purchase, which Stripe as the seller administers as described at checkout. For digital content it can end early once the download starts, if you agreed to that at checkout. Our 30-day refund applies in any case.
6. Warranty and liability
We work hard to make Runway reliable, but software has bugs, and Runway depends on Xcode and macOS, which change without notice. Your statutory rights regarding defects (which you have against the seller) stay unaffected.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we gave a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations (those that make the contract possible and that you may rely on), limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability is excluded. This also covers lost data where regular backups would have prevented the loss.
7. Privacy
Runway collects no analytics. What the app and this site do with data is in the privacy policy.
8. Third-party software
Runway includes open-source software (XcodeProj, PathKit, AEXML and HappyTours) under their own licenses, listed in Settings → General → License & acknowledgements. Xcode, Simulator and Apple’s developer tools belong to Apple and are not part of Runway. AXe, used for simulator UI automation, is installed separately under its own license.
9. Law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live still apply.
